Passing the oDesk Test

What is the oDesk certified test?

 You have already heard about the “oDesk certified test” or the “oDesk readiness test”. It is a multiple choice test or as oDesk calls it “a tutorial,” which has eleven questions covering almost every area that any person new to oDesk must know. The main purpose of oDesk readiness test is to make the candidate more familiar with the way oDesk works, rather than to examine his knowledge. Therefore, it is an open book test in which the candidate is provided with the reading material for each question. The candidate   must score 100% at one attempt to pass this test. But, unlike  oDesk skills tests, there is not any limitation on the number of times a candidate can retake this test within a particular period of time, which means you can take the test several times a day until you score 100%.

Why should I take the oDesk certified test?

 

It is not mandatory that you take the oDesk readiness test, but it is highly recommended that you should take this before starting your career at oDesk. The main advantages of taking the test can be listed as follows;

  1. It gives you a basic understanding as to how oDesk works.
  2. It gives a more complete look to your oDesk contractor profile.
  3. Your job quota goes up.

What is my job quota?

 

Your job quota is the maximum number of jobs you can apply to on oDesk within a period of seven days.  For example, if you haven’t taken any of the oDesk tests including oDesk readiness test and you don’t have any feedback either, (feedback is the remarks or the ranking you get from your employer for the work done; we consider it separately in Chapter 9 in this eBook) the maximum number of jobs you can apply to for a period of seven days is two. That is your job quota.  Until you earn feedbacks, your job quota is based on the number of tests you take. Once you earn feedbacks, the job quota will be determined on the basis of your feedback scores. The maximum quota is 20 jobs a week; you can’t get more than that no matter how better your feedbacks are or how many tests you have taken. Your job quota is usually refreshed once each twelve hours.

What are the questions I am likely to get for the oDesk certified test?

The oDesk readiness test basically covers the areas such as oDesk policies, getting hired, working on contracts, getting paid, starting companies on oDesk and working for agencies on oDesk.
